Cat LeBlancAre you planning for an amazing 2014? Raring to start up your own business or taking it to the next level? I hope so! It’s an exciting time of year, full of hopes, plans and dreams. While it’s great to be full of motivation and chomping at the bit to get started it’s also crucial to realize that you can’t do it all alone.

We don’t exist in a vacuum and there are going to be times when we need help. Wanting help isn’t a sign of weakness (I used to think it was). Asking for help is a sign of being mature enough to know your awesomeness can be augmented! twitter Tweet That!

So who should you have at your side to make your exciting dreams become reality?

You can of course have more but here is my list of essential superhero sidekicks to make your 2014 quite seriously amazing…

A Trusted Friend or Life Coach

When you really go for achieving your dreams you’d be amazed at the amount of ‘stuff’ that comes up. Even if you are not a person who has ‘stuff’. I thought I didn’t have much stuff. I’ve moved country three times and had to build a new life each time, been married and divorced, had ridiculously stressful jobs I thought yeah, yeah, what could starting a business bring up? Errr, try a whole lot. How about fear of having photos done, fear of putting yourself out there, fear of no one wanting your stuff, fear of having to go back to work, fear of not being able to get a job?

It’s an wonderful world of opportunity out there but it’s also quite scary. Having a trusted friend who really believes in you will work wonders on those days where you feel like you just want to hide under the duvet. If your friends think you’ve gone nuts for wanting to strike out on your own, and this happens a lot more than you’d think, consider a life coach. A life coach by definition believes in you and works to help you find the best way forward. Having someone there to help with the emotional side is going to be essential.

A Business Coach

Did you see that coming? I’m a business coach so of course I believe in business coaches! In all seriousness though, a good Business Coach is your catalyst to making money sooner. I am a business nerd and read business books for fun but I still have a coach. I’ve had several. A business coach will save you a lot of time and money in getting your business set up properly and bring in money faster. Having someone who is ahead of you in the game is invaluable. Investing in a coach will keep you moving ahead strategically and keep you accountable.

If you are interested in working with me you can check out my new services here. If you did choose to work with me that would make me ridiculously happy (no really, it would) ultimately though you need to choose a coach who fits your style and what you are looking to achieve.

An Accountability Group or Mastermind

This may seem like overkill now but trust me when I say that having a supportive group of like-minded people going through the same thing as you are is going to be so helpful. Try and set up a group of business friends and meet regularly for support, exchanging ideas and accountability.  You can either organise this yourself or you can join a formal mastermind. A mastermind, in case you haven’t come across the term before, is an accountability group, usually run by a business coach. There are regular group calls where each person in the mastermind has a chance to get support and guidance from the coach/facilitator and the other participants, report on how they are tracking with their goals and set new goals for the next meeting. Masterminds also often include retreats. I’m running a Mastermind in the New Year (this one’s booked out) and I can’t wait to see the results my lovely participants get.

I’m so excited for you to rock 2014! Just please make sure to have your support team set up for your best chance of success :-)
